What are resources?
A resource is a folder that contains files called scripts to make things happen in game, there are plenty of resources available for FiveM.
An example of a resource is vMenu – this resource adds a menu (similar to a mod menu) to the game allowing you to control certain aspects of the game. Without the resource this wouldn’t be possible.
Another example of a resource is EUP Stream, this resource adds the ability to add server-sided clothing to the game.
You will find lots of resources on the FiveM forums created by developers for server owners to use, you can find basic resources to full gamemodes such as essentialmode.
Resource Folder Hierarchy
In your FiveM Server files you will have a folder called resources.
You can simply put resources in there, but it is advised to keep your resource folder tidy.
You can group files in folders, but they must be put in crotchets (square brackets) for example inside your resource folder you can have:
Inside the folders with brackets you can place your resources.
Once you are in the resource folder you can simply place the resource in.
To get your server to “see” the resources, you can type “refresh” in the console whilst running and you will see them load, alternatively you can restart the server.
Starting a Resource
In the server console you can type
RESOURCE being the name of the resource.
Start Resource on Server Start
To start a resource when your server first loads, you can put in your server.cfg:
resource being the name of the resource you want to start.
Stopping a resource
In the same way you started the resource, you can stop it in the console using the commands.
resource being the name of the resource you want to stop.
Restarting a resource
In the same way you stopped the resource, you can restart it in the console using the commands.
resource being the name of the resource you want to restart.
You should now be able to start, stop, restart and start your resources on server load.
